Nina von Engeström was born on 23 November 1836 at Kipplingeberg estate in Uppland and died 1908 in Örebro. She developed an interest in weaving early as a young woman and devoted her life to it. She set up a weaving school in 1884 in Uppsala and later another school in Örebro, where she had 26 looms, one of which was a jacquard loom for damast. In 1899-1900 her largest damast loom was built for two jacquard machines, which came to be called "Jumbo", and which these days can be found at Klässbols linnen weaving mill in Värmland.
Örebro county museum have acquired both textiles from Nina von Engeström's school as well as handwritten manuscripts for Praktisk vävbok for their collections. These items can be seen at an exhibition about the history of the weaving school.
